HOLLAND, NY (June 24, 2017) After tour stops at Lake Erie Speedway (Shawn Nye) and Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway (Andy Nye), the Jerry Gradl Motors NYPA TQ Midgets returned home to the historic highbanks of Holland International Speedway for their third event of the 2017 season and it was just like the prior two visits to the highbanks, with Lockport, NY’s Dave Wollaber back in victory lane.

“I have to thank Vinnie Sr, Vinnie Jr, Vinnie III and the crew for all their work this week” commented Wollaber. “I flipped for the first time in 18 years and on Father’s Day, Vinnie Sr had this car down to the bare frame and we were at the shop all week getting the car fixed and I think it’s close to what it was” Wollaber continued. Coming into the week three show at Holland, Dave Wollaber led the Holland points while Erik Musto was the overall series point’s leader.

Vinnie Christiano III and Charlie DiRosa brought the 17 car field to the green flag for their 20 lap feature event but it was Wollaber, who started fourth on the grid, jumping into the lead with past Series champion Kyle Hutchinson taking over second place at the end of the opening lap.

With Wollaber and Hutchinson dominating the field up front, the race was on behind them for third on back with Andy Nye, Erik Musto and Vinnie Christiano Jr racing inside the top five early on. The car on the move was Tommy Catalano as “The Rocket” started 16th on the grid and worked his way into the top five late in the event as the drivers racing in third on back, had to deal with heavy lap traffic.

In the end of the 20 lap feature, it was Wollaber back in Victory Lane for the third time at Holland with Kyle Hutchinson finishing in second. Lake Erie Speedway NYPA feature winner Andy Nye was in third with Tommy Catalano and overall Series points leader Erik Musto rounding out the top five.

Next up for the NYPA TQ Midgets will be their lone appearance of the season at the tricky Chemung Speedrome on Saturday, July 1st.  The NYPA TQ Midgets will return to Holland on July 15th as part of Holland’s Mid-Season Championships. Pit gates will open at 3:30 pm with grandstands opening at 5:45 pm. Qualifying action will start at 6:00 pm with feature racing beginning at 7:05 pm.
