HOLLAND, NY (May 20, 2017) Defending NYPA TQ Midget Series and Holland Speedway track champion Dave Wollaber from Lockport, NY scored the win in the main event this past Saturday night at Holland International Speedway.

Tony Petrea and Erik Musto shared the front row for the NYPA TQ Midgets to the green flag for their first race of the season with fifth place starter Bobby Holmes taking over the lead before the end of lap one. With Holmes up front, defending track champion Dave Wollaber moved into second place and began chasing down race leader Holmes. Wollaber would take over the lead from Holmes on lap eight. Former Series champion Kyle Hutchinson entered the top five early on as well and made an effort to catch the lead duo. Tommy Catalano worked his way into the top three until a spin sent him out of contention with just a handful of laps remaining.

Wollaber would lead the final 12 circuits to pick up the win.  “Bobby and I have raced each other for 15 years” Wollaber commented in victory lane. A total of seven cautions slowed the pace in the 20 lap feature. Jamie Pew took a nasty roll during the pre-race practice session. Jamie was alert and talking to medical personnel and climbed out of his mangled racecar under his own power.

The NYPA TQ Midgets will return to Holland on May 27th as part of Military Appreciation, Coca-Cola Family Night presented by Eastern Hills Mall. A huge Fireworks display will cap off the night as the track celebrates the Memorial Day Holiday. Pit gates will open at 4:15pm with grandstands opening at 5:45pm. Qualifying action will start at 6:00pm with feature racing beginning at 7:05pm.
